The Heritage Patriots will head out on the road to face off against the Jefferson Dragons at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: both teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.
Heritage had to endure a four-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They strolled past Winder-Barrow with points to spare on Friday, taking the game 40-21. Heritage pushed the score to 32-7 by the end of the third, a deficit Winder-Barrow cut but never quite recovered from.
Heritage had a senior duo take command as Dion Dean jr picked up 198 receiving yards and three touchdowns and Tony Green threw for 344 yards and four touchdowns while picking up 11.9 yards per attempt. Dean jr's longest reception was for an incredible 71 yards.
Meanwhile, Jefferson put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their perfect season alive. They took their matchup on the road with ease, bagging a 56-20 win over Loganville. The result was nothing new for Jefferson, who have now won five contests by 28 points or more so far this season.
Gavin Markey and Sammy Brown were among the main playmakers for Jefferson as the former threw for 190 yards and three touchdowns while completing 100% of his passes and the latter gained 161 total yards and four touchdowns. Jefferson also got a significant boost from Dallas Russell, who ran away from the competition to the tune of 83 yards.
Heritage's win bumped their record up to 3-5. As for Jefferson, their victory was their eighth straight on the road, which bumped their overall record up to 8-0.
Heritage was dealt a bruising 49-6 loss at the hands of Jefferson in their previous matchup back in October of 2022. Can Heritage avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
