The South Kitsap Wolves will head out on the road to square off against the Rogers Rams at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. The teams are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: South Kitsap has struggled recently with three defeats in a row, while Rogers will arrive with 12 straight victories.
South Kitsap's last matchup with Yelm could've gone either way, but unfortunately the same can't be said for the pair's matchup on Wednesday. The Wolves lost 12-6 to the Tornados.
Reagan Dale made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with three RBI, one run, and one double. The team also got some help courtesy of Ronan Byrd, who went 2-for-3 with one double and one RBI.
Meanwhile, Rogers earned a 6-1 win over Olympia on Thursday.
Sierra Murray spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered a run (which was unearned) on one hit and racked up 12 Ks. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in 11 consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Payton Walling was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base. That stolen base marked the first that she has snagged this season.
Rogers pushed their record up to 13-1 with the victory, which was their eighth straight on the road. Those road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.3 runs on average over those games. As for South Kitsap, their loss dropped their record down to 4-6.
Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Monday. South Kitsap hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 0.4 home runs per game. However, it's not like Rogers struggles in that department as they've been averaging 0.8 home runs. With so much power on both teams, it'll be down to the pitchers to keep the mound locked down.
South Kitsap might still be hurting after the 13-1 defeat they got from Rogers when the teams last played back in March. Can the Wolves avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
