Cherokee is 9-1 against Vina since February of 2019 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Tuesday. The Indians will head out to take on the Red Devils at 4:30 p.m. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.
As a matter of fact, Cherokee put up the most runs they have all season on Friday. They were the clear victors by an 18-0 margin over Sheffield. The victory continues a trend for the Indians in their matchups with the Bulldogs: they've now won seven in a row.
Libby Collum made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Collum was also big at the plate, scoring three runs while going 2-for-3. That's the most runs she has posted since back in March.

In other batting news, Emily Crocker and Tatum Lockett did most of the damage at the plate: Crocker scored three runs while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances, while Lockett went 1-for-3 with four RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. Those four RBI gave Lockett a new career-high. Lydia Wallace also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.
Cherokee hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least five batters in three consecutive matchups.
Meanwhile, Vina hadn't done well against Covenant Christian recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Monday. The Red Devils walked away with an 11-7 win over the Eagles. Surprisingly, this marked the third straight game that the away team has come away the victor.
Lana Bell was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing seven innings while giving up four earned (and three unearned) runs off 11 hits. Bell was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-4.

Another player making a difference was Kenzie Elrod, who went 2-for-4 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one double.

Cherokee beat Vina 6-1 in their previous meeting back in March of 2024. Do the Indians have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Red Devils turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
