Softball Recap: Baker Picks Up Fifth Consecutive Victory

Baker came tearing into Saturday's game with four straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 7.8 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They blew past the American Christian Academy Patriots 8-1. Considering the Hornets have won eight matchups by more than six runs this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.

KATLYN CONE looked comfortable as she tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on KAYLEE BODDIE, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. That's the most hits she has posted since back in February. The team also got some help courtesy of NOLA HAVARD, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI.

Baker hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team has now struck out at least three batters in five consecutive contests.

Baker's win bumped their record up to 16-9-1. As for American Christian Academy, they moved to 15-9 with that defeat, which also ended their four-game winning streak.

Baker has already played their next game, a 7-0 victory against Scotts Hill on the 30th. As for American Christian Academy, they will host West Blocton at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
