Oxbridge Academy is a perfect 10-0 against Cardinal Newman since March of 2016 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Wednesday. Oxbridge Academy's pitching crew heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Tuesday. They didn't even let Parkridge Christian on the board, marking the ThunderWolves' second-straight 11-0 shutout. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the ThunderWolves.
Oxbridge Academy got a great performance from Isabella Penbe as she kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits over five innings pitched.
On the hitting side, Oxbridge Academy let Riley Lyons and Ila Trueblood run wild. Lyons went 2-for-3 with four RBI, two runs, and one triple, while Trueblood went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base. That home run marked the first that Trueblood launched this season.
Oxbridge Academy was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .381. They are a perfect 10-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
Meanwhile, Cardinal Newman lost 12-1 to Jupiter on Tuesday. The Crusaders haven't had much luck with the Warriors recently, as the team has come up short the last six times they've met.
Cardinal Newman saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Karis Taleff, who scored a run while going 1-for-2.
Cardinal Newman's defeat dropped their record down to 5-14. As for Oxbridge Academy, their record now sits at 15-6.
Cardinal Newman's hitters will have their work cut out for them on Wednesday. Oxbridge Academy has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 6.7 strikeouts per game. It's a different story for Cardinal Newman, though, as they've been averaging only 2.1 strikeouts. Will Oxbridge Academy keep running through batters, or will the Crusaders buck the trend?
