The Buckeye Hawks typically have all the answers at home, but on Wednesday the Horizon Huskies proved too difficult a challenge. They secured a 44-40 W over the Hawks. The victory was familiar territory for Horizon who now have three in a row.
It was another big night for Mia Brown, who scored eight points along with six rebounds and six steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Paisy Perkins, who scored eight points along with seven rebounds and three blocks.
Buckeye lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Isabel Ramirez, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and 11 rebounds. Ramirez has been hot recently, having posted nine or more rebounds the last six times she's played. Another player making a difference was Amayah Leyva, who scored 11 points along with three steals.
Horizon pushed their record up to 17-9 with that win, which was their third straight on the road. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 52.3 points per game. As for Buckeye, their loss ended a six-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 18-8.
Horizon does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Buckeye also has no future games currently scheduled.
