The Ulysses Tigers's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their third straight loss. They took a 59-55 hit to the loss column at the hands of Liberty. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Liberty was led to victory by Steven Mcallister and Kieren Otsea. Mcallister scored eight points along with 12 rebounds and two steals, while Otsea scored 15 points along with five steals. That's the first time this season that Mcallister pulled down eight or more rebounds. Gavyn Franz was another key contributor, scoring nine points.
Ulysses has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost four of their last five matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-7 record this season. As for Liberty, their win bumped their record up to 3-9.
Ulysses won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Pine Creek at 11:30 a.m. on January 20th. As for Liberty, Liberty and Hays will face off at 1:00 p.m. on January 20th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Hays presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Liberty in their respective states (Hays is ranked 84th in Kansas, while Liberty is ranked 203rd in Colorado).
