The Solomon Gorillas will be playing in front of their home fans against the Moundridge Wildcats on Thursday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Solomon scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Thursday. Everything went their way against Canton-Galva as Solomon made off with a 73-52 win. With that victory, Solomon brought their scoring average up to 50.3 points per game.
Solomon relied on the efforts of Carlos Duran, who scored 19 points along with six rebounds and three steals, and Spencer Coup, who dropped a double-double on 23 points and 15 rebounds. Coup is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 15 or more in the last six games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Logan Hammersmith, who scored eight points.
Meanwhile, Moundridge blew past Oxford, posting a 81-44 victory on the road. Given Moundridge's advantage in MaxPreps' Kansas basketball rankings (they are ranked 14th, while Oxford is ranked 75th), the result two weeks ago wasn't entirely unexpected.
Solomon is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games, which provided a nice bump to their 4-3 record this season. As for Moundridge, they pushed their record up to 6-1 with that win, which was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season.
Solomon was dealt a bruising 56-28 defeat at the hands of Moundridge when the teams last played back in February of 2018. Can Solomon avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
