The Garden City Cougars's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their sixth straight loss. They fell to Thurston 67-62. Garden City has not had much luck with Thurston recently, as the team's come up short the last eight times they've met.
Despite the loss, Garden City still got an impressive performance from Drake Willis, who scored 29 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Ethan Hiett, who scored six points along with 14 rebounds.
Even though they lost, Garden City were working as a unit and finished the game with 20 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.
Garden City's loss was their 17th straight on the road, which bumped their record down to 1-11. As for Thurston, their win bumped their record up to 8-6.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Garden City will take on Robichaud at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. One thing working in Robichaud's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last three contests. As for Thurston, they will play host again and welcome Melvindale, where tip off is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Melvindale has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last four games.
