The Bad Axe Hatchets will head out on the road to challenge the Richmond Blue Devils at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.
Bad Axe barely beat Vassar the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Hatchets were the clear victors by a 13-5 margin over the Vulcans on Thursday. The Hatchets' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

Jackson Wolschlager and Mason Hurley made a big impact no matter where they played. Throwing, Wolschlager pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Hurley didn't allow a single earned run while striking out 13 over six innings pitched. He also tossed a walk, which is notable because Bad Axe is 3-1 when he allows at most two walks, but 1-9 otherwise. At bat, Wolschlager went 3-for-5 with three stolen bases, three runs, and one triple, while Hurley went 4-for-5 with five stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI. Wolschlager has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times he's played.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Grant Smith, who went 3-for-4 with four RBI, one stolen base, and one run. Those four RBI gave him a new career-high. Drostan Stapleton was another key player, going 3-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.
Bad Axe always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .605. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, Richmond entered their tilt with Imlay City on Tuesday with 13 consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with 14. They blew past the Spartans 13-2. The Blue Devils might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won ten games by six runs or more this season.
Bad Axe's record now sits at 4-10. As for Richmond, their record is now 15-1.
