Spanish Fort is ranked highly in their home state and on Saturday they took on another highly ranked team in the form of Gulf Breeze. The Toros fell 2-0 to the Dolphins. The Toros' loss signaled the end of their 11-game winning streak.

Caroline Downey paced Spanish Fort's offense, picking up eight kills. Downey got some help from Cailyn Boykin and her 16 assists.

Gulf Breeze's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Bella Ciolino led the charge by getting 13 digs and four assists. That's the most assists Ciolino has posted over her last four matches. Allie Hepworth was another key player, getting 12 assists and seven digs.

Spanish Fort's defeat dropped their record down to 20-2. As for Gulf Breeze, the win (which was their seventh in a row) raised their record to 11-1.

Coming up, Spanish Fort will head out to challenge McGill-Toolen at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Gulf Breeze, they will be playing at home against Daphne at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
