After a string of five wins, the Brewbaker Tech Rams's good fortune finally ran out on Tuesday. They were just a bucket shy of victory and fell 43-42 to Selma. Brewbaker Tech was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Saints apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in February of 2023.
When it comes to explaining why Brewbaker Tech lost, one person who can't be blamed is Erin Martin. Despite the final result, she scored nine points along with seven steals and six rebounds. Martin has been hot recently, having posted two or more blocks the last six times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of A'mya Bell, who scored five points along with five assists and three steals.
Even though they lost, Brewbaker Tech smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 28 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
Brewbaker Tech now has a losing record at 12-13. As for Selma, their victory was their ninth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 14-0.
Brewbaker Tech will take on the Thunderbirds at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. Park Crossing presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than the Rams in Alabama (the Thunderbirds are ranked 14th, while the Rams are ranked 110th). As for Selma, they will head out on the road to face off against the Rams at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. Hopefully Brewbaker Tech focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 21 on Saturday.
