The Pittston Patriots will take on the Wyoming Area Warriors at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday. Pittston will come into the matchup with an undefeated record on the line.
Pittston's pitching crew heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Wednesday. Everything went their way against Dallas as they made off with a 10-0 victory. Considering the Patriots have won five contests by more than six runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.
The team relied heavily on Dom Innamorati, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with four RBI, two runs, and one triple. The team also got some help courtesy of Beau Widdick, who went 3-for-4 with three stolen bases and two RBI.
Pittston always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .645. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Dallas only posted an OBP of .250.
Meanwhile, Wyoming Area unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Wednesday. They took a 6-3 hit to the loss column at the hands of Lake-Lehman.
Wyoming Area also got a good showing from Marco Altavilla, who pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Altavilla has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one walk any time he's pitched this season.
On the hitting side, Cody Meade and Robbie Yatsko did some serious damage despite the final result: Meade went a perfect 1-for-1 with one home run, while Yatsko scored a run and stole two bases while going 1-for-2. Michael Crane also deserves some recognition as he brought in his first RBI of the season.
Pittston pushed their record up to 8-0 with the win, which was their 14th straight at home dating back to last season. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.9 runs on average over those games. As for Wyoming Area, their loss was their first in the conference, dropping their conference record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 3-4.
Pittston took their win against Wyoming Area in their previous meeting back in May of 2024 by a conclusive 14-1 score. Do the Patriots have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Warriors turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
