After four games on the road, Sapulpa is heading back home. They will take on the Edison Eagles at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Sapulpa knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past four matchups -- so hopefully Edison likes a good challenge.
Sapulpa put the finishing touches on their seventh blowout victory of the season on Tuesday. Everything went their way against Memorial as Sapulpa made off with a 56-30 victory. The score was close at the half, but Sapulpa pulled away in the second half with 30 points.
Sapulpa relied on the efforts of Riki Mcquarters, who almost dropped a double-double on 17 points and nine steals, and Tyla Heard, who dropped a double-double on 20 points and 12 rebounds. Heard hasn't dropped below 15 points for four straight games. Kailynne Disaya Parker was another key contributor, scoring five points along with two steals.
Meanwhile, Edison's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their seventh straight defeat. They were dealt a 59-24 loss at the hands of Coweta. While losing is never fun, Edison can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Oklahoma basketball rankings (they are ranked 321st, while Coweta is ranked 54th).
Sapulpa's win was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 15-5. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 66.0 points per game. As for Edison, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost ten of their last 11 games, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-18 record this season.
Everything came up roses for Sapulpa against Edison when the teams last played back in January as the team secured a 70-9 win. Will Sapulpa repeat their success, or does Edison have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
