The Ware Indians will venture away from home to take on the Taconic Thunder at 12:00 p.m. on Sunday. Ware is currently enjoying a perfect season and no doubt wants to keep things rolling.
Ware's pitching crew heads into the matchup hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Wednesday. Everything went their way against Palmer as they made off with a 13-0 win. The Indians might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won nine games by ten runs or more this season.
Jack Gaudreau and Kyle Kaczuwka made a big impact no matter where they played. On the mound, Gaudreau didn't allow a single earned run while striking out six over four innings pitched. Meanwhile, Kaczuwka pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Gaudreau has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in six consecutive appearances. At bat, Gaudreau went 2-for-3 with two RBI and one run, while Kaczuwka went 1-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.
In other batting news, Brody Koczur and Jason Mumper did most of the damage at the plate: Koczur went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs and one RBI, while Mumper got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs and one RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Nate Kaczuwka, who went 1-for-3 with two runs and one RBI.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Taconic). They put the hurt on Wahconah Regional with a sharp 19-4 victory on Friday. Perhaps unsurprisingly given the team's high-flying offense, the game also marked the team's biggest win of the season.
Taconic got a massive performance out of Ed Ferris, who got on base in four of his five plate appearances with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. The Thunder are 3-1 when Ferris posts one or more home runs, but 3-5 otherwise. Quentin Christopher also deserves some recognition as he launched his first home run of the season.
Taconic always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .600. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Ware's victory was their 11th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 12-0. The team's perfect season has a lot to do with their hitting performance: the team's won by an average of 8.9 runs thus far. As for Taconic, the win got them back to even at 6-6.
Ware couldn't quite finish off Taconic in their previous matchup back in April of 2024 and fell 4-2. Can the Indians avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
