After three games on the road, Glenwood is heading back home. They will take on the Lanphier Lions at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, both teams will really light up the scoreboard.
Last Saturday, Glenwood strolled past the Spartans with points to spare, taking the game 55-38. Given Glenwood's advantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 65th, while the Spartans are ranked 290th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Glenwood got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Alexis Neumann out in front who dropped a double-double on 13 points and 11 rebounds. Neumann has been hot recently, having posted nine or more rebounds the last three times she's played. Makenna Yeager was another key contributor, scoring 13 points along with six rebounds.
Lanphier can finally bid farewell to their eight-game losing streak thanks to their game on Thursday. Everything went their way against Decatur Eisenhower as Lanphier made off with a 58-32 win. The contest was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 32-12.
Glenwood pushed their record up to 21-6 with that victory, which was their sixth straight on the road. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 50.7 points per game. As for Lanphier, their victory ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 5-18.
Everything came up roses for Glenwood against the Lions when the teams last played back in December of 2023 as the squad secured a 53-16 victory. Will Glenwood repeat their success, or do the Lions have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
