The Oxbow Olympians managed to keep up with the Williamstown Blue Devils until halftime on Saturday, but things quickly went downhill from there. Oxbow suffered a tough 72-50 defeat at the hands of Williamstown. Oxbow has not had much luck with Williamstown recently, as the team's come up short the last eight times they've met.
Evan Bailey was his usual excellent self, going 7 for 14 from beyond the arc en route to 34 points and 6 assists for Williamstown. That makes it seven consecutive games in which Bailey has scored at least a third of Williamstown's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Nick Mascitti, who scored six points along with seven rebounds.
Oxbow has traveled a rocky road recently having lost four of their last five contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-12 record this season. As for Williamstown, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight contests, which provided a nice bump to their 11-6 record this season.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Oxbow will challenge Danville at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. The timing is sure in Danville's favor as the squad sits on six straight wins at home while Oxbow has been banged up by three consecutive losses on the road. As for Williamstown, they will square off against Winooski at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
