The Barnwell Warhorses lost against the Woodland Wolverines back in January, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Monday. Barnwell's tough 54-34 defeat to the Wolverines might stick with them for a while. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Barnwell in their matchups with the Wolverines: they've now lost five in a row.
Barnwell lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Vashahd Scofield, who scored 13 points. That was a full 38.2% of Barnwell's points, marking the third time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Damahjai Devoe, who scored nine points.
Woodland was led to victory by Travon Tate and JaKease Salley. Tate scored 11 points along with seven rebounds and five steals, while Salley dropped a double-double on 16 points and 12 rebounds. Salley is on a roll when it comes to blocks, as he's now posted three or more in the last 18 games he's played. Jaylen Warren was another key contributor, scoring three points along with four steals.
Barnwell has not been sharp recently as the team's lost seven of their last nine matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-12 record this season. As for Woodland, their win bumped their record up to 15-9.
Barnwell will head out on the road to face off against the Hurricanes at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Hampton County will be looking to extend their current ten-game winning streak. As for Woodland, they will look to defend their home court on Wednesday against the Cougars at 7:30 p.m. Edisto is no doubt hoping to put an end to an eight-game streak of away losses.
