Mecklenburg County won the last time they faced Halifax County and Aubree Wilbourne did her part to make sure it happened again. The Phoenix walked away with a 3-1 victory over the Comets on Thursday thanks in part to Wilbourne, who had 38 digs. She is on a roll when it comes to digs, as she's now had 38 or more in each of the last three games she's played.
The final score came out to 25-19, 15-25, 25-16, 25-17.
Mecklenburg County's win came from a few key players Magna Vista will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Aliza Hatcher, who had 21 assists. Those 21 assists gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Avery Puryear, who had ten digs.
Mecklenburg County now has a winning record of 9-8. As for Magna Vista, their win bumped their record up to 10-8.
Everything went Magna Vista's way against Mecklenburg County when the teams last played back in September, as Magna Vista made off with a 3-0 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Warriors since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
