The Lutheran-Northeast Eagles put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their perfect season alive. They took their contest on the road with ease, bagging a 69-23 victory over Neligh-Oakdale. Considering Lutheran-Northeast has won seven matchups by more than 20 points this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
Lutheran-Northeast's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Tate Collison led the charge by scoring 13 points along with six rebounds. Collison continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. Gavin Feddern was another key contributor, scoring 11 points along with five rebounds.
Despite the loss, Neligh-Oakdale still got an impressive performance from Chase Furstenau, who scored 16 points. Furstenau scored a full 69.6% of Neligh-Oakdale's points, the ninth time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points.
Lutheran-Northeast's victory bumped their record up to 11-0. As for Neligh-Oakdale, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-8.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Lutheran-Northeast will challenge Wausa at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Wausa will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Nebraska Rankings (they are ranked 184th, while Lutheran-Northeast is ranked 16th). Neligh-Oakdale's road trip will continue as they head out to face Plainview at 7:30 p.m. on January 5, 2024.
