It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact the Batesville Bulldogs can now relate to. They fell just short of Heritage Hills by a score of 24-21. Batesville's defeat signaled the end of their seven-game winning streak.
When it comes to explaining why Batesville lost on Friday, one person who can't be blamed is Cade Kaiser. Despite the final result, he picked up 172 receiving yards and two touchdowns. The team also got some help courtesy of Will Jaisle, who threw for 223 yards and two touchdowns.
Heritage Hills found their leader in underclassman Jett Goldsberry, who rushed for 157 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 8.3 yards per carry, and also threw for 84 yards and a touchdown. Goldsberry really tore up the turf during one magnificent 79-yard run. Tyler Ruxer did his part to keep the secondary busy, picking up 87 receiving yards and a touchdown.
Batesville's loss dropped their record down to 11-2. As for Heritage Hills, they pushed their record up to 12-1 with that win, which was their fourth straight on the road.
Batesville does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Heritage Hills will look to defend their home field on Friday against Gibson Southern at 7:00 p.m. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Indiana (Gibson Southern is ranked 25th, while Heritage Hills is ranked 30th).
