Leominster gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Friday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat the St. John's Pioneers 38-0. The contest was all but wrapped up at the end of the third, by which point the Blue Devils had established a 30-point advantage.
Osiris Lopez had a dynamite game, throwing for 250 yards and three TDs while picking up 10.9 yards per attempt, and also rushing for 74 yards and one touchdown on only six carries. Zackery Oliver was in the mix as well, providing Leominster with two scores.
Leominster didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off four passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Ryan Ricker and Elijah Rivera.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Leominster will welcome Milford at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. After each having a week off, St. John's and Grafton will shake off the cobwebs and hit the field against one another at 6:00 p.m. on the 19th.
