New Hanover (Wilmington, N.C.), ranked No. 3 according to the MaxPreps computer baseball rankings, finishes the season as the No. 1-ranked medium school in the nation for 2018.
The Wildcats won the North Carolina Class 3A state championship and finish just ahead of Faith Academy (Mobile, Ala.), which is No. 4 in the computer rankings, and Argyle (Texas), which is No. 14 overall.
The final medium school national baseball rankings include eight teams that are ranked No. 1 overall in their state by the computer rankings and 20 teams that won a state championship. The medium school rankings are based on the computer rankings and thus will differ from the MaxPreps Xcellent 50 National Baseball Rankings, which use different methods for determining ranking order.
Medium schools are those schools that participate in state enrollment divisions that generally have between 1,000 and 2,000 students. Teams are listed with their final overall record, their computer rating, their highest team accomplishment this season, their final computer state ranking and their final overall national computer ranking.
