The Laurel Spartans's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Monday after their fourth straight loss. They fell 57-50 to Great Mills. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Laurel has scored all season.
Several Spartans players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Jermaine Taylor, who scored 15 points. Taylor scored a full 30% of Laurel's points, the third time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Amadou Kaloga, who scored 13 points.
Laurel bumped their record down to 3-4 with that loss, which was their third straight on the road. As for Great Mills, the win was the eighth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 8-1.
Laurel will head out on the road to face off against Eleanor Roosevelt at 7:15 p.m. on Thursday. Eleanor Roosevelt is coming into the contest on a four-game losing streak. As for Great Mills, they will look to defend their home court on Wednesday against McDonough at 6:30 p.m. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Maryland (McDonough is ranked 74th, while Great Mills is ranked 55th).
