After flying high against the Utopian Academy for the Arts two weeks ago, The Walker Wolverines came back down to earth. Walker took a serious blow against Cherokee Christian on Friday, falling 50-6. Having soared to a lofty 34 points in the game before, Walker couldn't push the score so high this time.
Jackson Nesmith threw for 27 yards and a touchdown.
Leading Cherokee Christian to victory were Gavin Jarrard and Jayben Meder. Jarrard rushed for 112 yards and two touchdowns, while Meder rushed for 64 yards and two touchdowns.
Walker has not been sharp recently, as they've lost four of their last five contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-4 record this season. As for Cherokee Christian, they now have a winning record of 4-3.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Walker will take on Lanier Christian Academy at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Georgia (Lanier Christian Academy is ranked 439th, while Walker is ranked 434th). As for Cherokee Christian, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Pinecrest Academy at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
