Baseball Game Preview: Cincinnati Country Day Nighthawks vs. Purcell Marian Cavaliers

Cincinnati Country Day is a perfect 8-0 against Purcell Marian since May of 2021 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Wednesday. The Nighthawks will look to defend their home field against the Cavaliers at 5:00 p.m. Neither of those teams managed to put together many runs in their previous contests, so the offenses might be a little more motivated than usual.

While Cincinnati Country Day's win against Summit Country Day wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Nighthawks never let the Silver Knights get on the board and left with a 2-0 victory on Tuesday. The Nighthawks haven't had any issues with the Silver Knights recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive win against them.

Elijah Guttman made a splash while hitting and pitching. He didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit over five innings pitched. Guttman was also solid in the batter's box, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs. He is becoming a predictor of Cincinnati Country Day's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 2-1 (and 7-8 when he doesn't).

Guttman wasn't the only one making solid contact as three players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Jaemeson French, who went 1-for-3 with one double and one RBI.

Meanwhile, Tuesday just wasn't the day for Purcell Marian's offense. They came up short against Roger Bacon on Tuesday, falling 6-0. The Cavaliers' defeat continues a trend for the team, making it three in a row.

The victory got Cincinnati Country Day back to even at 9-9. As for Purcell Marian, their loss dropped their record down to 5-12.
