The Upper Cape Cod RVT Rams will face off against the Southeastern RVT Hawks at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Upper Cape Cod RVT is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 9.8 runs per game this season.
Upper Cape Cod RVT took a loss when they played away from home on Thursday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Monday. They were the clear victors by a 19-4 margin over Avon. The Rams haven't had any issues with the Panthers recently, as the game was their third consecutive win against them.
Taysia Lopes made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks any time she's pitched this season. She was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring four runs and stealing three bases while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Meadow Diede, who went 3-for-4 with four stolen bases, two triples, and three runs. Another player making a difference was Karah Rosario, who scored two runs and stole two bases while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances.
Upper Cape Cod RVT always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .727. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, it may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Southeastern RVT ultimately got the result they hoped for on Friday. They walked away with a 6-2 victory over Westport. Six seems to be a good number for the Hawks as the squad scooped up a win with the same number of runs in their previous game.
Like Upper Cape Cod RVT, Southeastern RVT also got a great game from a two-way player: Becca Hornung. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out eight batters over four innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits (and only one walk). Those hits were Hornung's first of the season. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI.
Hornung wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Camryn Precourt, who went 1-for-3 with one triple and one run. That run marked the first that Precourt scored this season.
Upper Cape Cod RVT now has a winning record of 3-2. As for Southeastern RVT, the victory got them back to even at 2-2.
Southeastern RVT's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Upper Cape Cod RVT has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .559. It's a different story for Southeastern RVT, though, as they've only averaged .266. Will they be able to contain Upper Cape Cod RVT's hitters?
