Skyline hasn't had much luck against Saline recently, but that could start to change on Monday. The Eagles will face off against the Hornets at 4:00 p.m. Skyline has given up an average of 14.2 runs per game this season, but Monday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
Skyline is headed into Monday's matchup looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their fourth straight game on Thursday. They came up short against Adrian, falling 19-7.
Camryn Murray and Abby Yuan stepped up to the plate in a big way. Murray went 1-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI, while Yuan went 2-for-3 with two runs and one double.
The scorekeeper got an easy start on Monday as neither Saline nor Monroe made it on the board until the sixth inning. The Hornets' pitcher stepped up to hand the Trojans a 5-0 shutout. The win continues a trend for the Hornets in their matchups with the Trojans: they've now won five in a row.
The result came thanks to Abby Curtis's shutout, as she gave up just four hits and racked up 15 Ks. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks any time she's pitched this season.
On the hitting side, Casey Griffin was incredible, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with one home run and two RBI. Sydney Hastings was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.
Saline pushed their record up to 17-3-1 with the victory, which was their fifth straight on the road. Those road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.0 runs over those games. As for Skyline, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-9.
Monday's contest might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Skyline has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .449. However, it's not like Saline struggles in that department as they've averaged .469. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Skyline might still be hurting after the 15-1 loss they got from Saline in their previous matchup back in April of 2024. Can the Eagles avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
