On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Kaden Hart, who went 1-for-4 with one home run. He has become a key player for Oak Grove: the team is 5-1 when he posts at least one home run, but 6-9 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Max Hurt, who went 2-for-3 with two runs and one double.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Asheboro). They never let Jordan-Matthews get on the board and left with an 11-0 win on Thursday. The victory was nothing new for the Blue Comets as they're now sitting on four straight.
Mason Kotlowski looked comfortable as he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in strikeouts (four).
At the plate, Cohen Caviness and Sam Gore did most of the damage at the plate: Caviness went 3-for-4 with four RBI and one double, while Gore got on base in three of his four plate appearances with three runs and two RBI. That's the most RBI Gore has posted since back in March. Jacob Tevebaugh was another key player, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with three runs, one stolen base, and one double.
Asheboro always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .515. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.
Asheboro's win bumped their record up to 9-15. As for Oak Grove, their victory ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 11-10.
Everything went Oak Grove's way against Asheboro in their previous meeting back in March, as Oak Grove made off with a 14-2 win. Will the Grizzlies repeat their success, or do the Blue Comets have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
