Sonora has enjoyed the comforts of home their last five games, but now they'll head out on the road. They will challenge the Fullerton Indians at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Fullerton took a loss in their last matchup and will be looking to turn the tables on Sonora, who comes in off a win.
Last Wednesday, Sonora strolled past Buena Park with points to spare, taking the game 65-51. Given Sonora's advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 118th, while Buena Park is ranked 658th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Meanwhile, Fullerton pushed their score all the way to 58 on Wednesday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They took a hard 72-58 fall against Sunny Hills. Fullerton has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Saint Martinez, who scored 14 points along with five rebounds. Another player making a difference was Baylor Wilks, who scored 14 points.
Sonora has been performing well recently as they've won 11 of their last 13 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 18-7 record this season. As for Fullerton, they dropped their record down to 10-15 with that defeat, which was their third straight on the road.
Everything went Sonora's way against Fullerton when the teams last played two weeks ago as Sonora made off with a 70-50 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Sonora since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
