Softball Recap: Grace Community Wins Going Away Against Big Sandy

It was a proper cat-fight when Grace Community duked it out with Big Sandy on Friday. The Grace Community Cougars blew past the Big Sandy Wildcats 17-3. The Cougars' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

Kat Neal was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching three innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks any time she's pitched this season. She was even better at the plate, going 3-for-4 with five RBI and two runs. The dominant performance gave her a new career-high in RBI.

In other batting news, Sadie Arriola was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run, six RBI, and four runs. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in March of 2024. Another player making a difference was Isabel Buchanan, who scored four runs while going 2-for-3.

Grace Community always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .594. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

The win got Grace Community back to even at 2-2. As for Big Sandy, their loss was their first of the season and makes their record 2-1.

Grace Community didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next match, a 5-0 defeat against LaPoynor on the 28th. As for Big Sandy, they are headed away from home for the first time to take on Cumby at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Cumby has struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 9.75 runs per game on average), something Big Sandy will no doubt try to take advantage of.
