Two dominant players in Morgan Little and Adella Dehring are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Neuse Christian Academy Lions and the St. Thomas More Academy Chancellors will face off at 4:30 p.m. on January 26th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in North Carolina (Neuse Christian Academy is ranked 389th, while St. Thomas More Academy is ranked 404th).
Last Tuesday, Neuse Christian Academy didn't have too much trouble with Thales Academy Rolesville on the road as they won 48-34.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Neuse Christian Academy to victory, but perhaps none more so than Little, who scored 14 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Natalie Little, who scored four points along with ten blocks and nine rebounds.
Meanwhile, St. Thomas More Academy put the finishing touches on their seventh blowout victory of the season on Wednesday. They really took it to Father Capodanno for the full four quarters, racking up a 52-25 victory on the road. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest victory St. Thomas More Academy has posted since January 3rd.
St. Thomas More Academy can attribute much of their success to Dehring, who scored 21 points along with three steals, and Enora Boutrand, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and ten rebounds. Boutrand continues to roll, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. Libby Fix was another key contributor, scoring two points along with four steals.
The victory got Neuse Christian Academy back to even at 7-7. St. Thomas More Academy's record is now 13-10.
Friday's contest is one where the number of possessions is likely to be a big factor: Neuse Christian Academy have been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 36.3 rebounds per game. However, it's not like St. Thomas More Academy struggles in that department as they've been averaging 25.3 rebounds per game. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
Neuse Christian Academy couldn't quite finish off St. Thomas More Academy in their previous matchup on Monday and fell 32-29. Can Neuse Christian Academy avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
