After two games on the road, College Station is heading back home. They will take on The Georgetown Eagles at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in College Station's favor is that they have now posted big point totals every time they've taken the field this season.
Last Friday, College Station took their matchup on the road with ease, bagging a 49-19 victory over Glenn. The result was nothing new for College Station, who have now won six contests by 28 points or more so far this season.
College Station's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Aydan Martinez-Brown, who rushed for 100 yards and two touchdowns on only ten carries, and also picked up 72 receiving yards. Martinez-Brown was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 54 yards. Another player making a difference was Arrington Maiden, who threw for 303 yards and three touchdowns while completing 73.3% of his passes.
Meanwhile, Georgetown had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 21.7 points), and they went ahead and made it four on Friday. They took down East View 31-13. Given Georgetown's advantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 195th, while East View is ranked 451st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
It was another big night for Andrew Petter, who rushed for 122 yards and two touchdowns, and also caught a touchdown. Petter is on a roll when it comes to rushing yards, as he's now rushed for 100 or more in the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Noah Booras, who threw for 171 yards and two touchdowns while completing 73.9% of his passes.
College Station's win was their fourth straight on the road, which bumped their overall record up to 6-1. That said, the team wasn't facing the toughest opposition over that stretch, as it included 1-7 Temple and 1-6 Leander (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 28.1% over those games). As for Georgetown, their win on Friday bumped their record up to 5-2.
Here's a few offensive stats to keep an eye on ahead of Friday's matchup: College Station has been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 195.6 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Georgetown struggles in that department as they've been averaging 153.3 per game. It's looking like Friday's match might have some serious battles in the trenches.
Everything went College Station's way against Georgetown in their previous matchup back in November of 2022 as College Station made off with a 52-28 win. Will College Station repeat their success, or does Georgetown have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
