The Longmeadow Lancers will venture away from home to square off against the Pittsfield Generals at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Longmeadow will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each matchup than the last.
Longmeadow took a 12-run defeat the last time they faced off against Westfield, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Lancers came out on top in a nail-biter against the Bombers on Monday, sneaking past 13-11.
Longmeadow got a massive performance out of Delaney Schrager, who fired off two home runs, five runs, and four RBI while getting on base in five of her six plate appearances. That's the most RBI Schrager has posted since back in May of 2025. The team also got some help courtesy of Camryn Schrager, who fired off two home runs and three runs while going 2-for-5.
Longmeadow was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .395. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .395 or higher in three consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, Pittsfield came up short against Agawam on Monday and fell 7-4. The Generals haven't had much luck with the Brownies recently, as the team has come up short the last three times they've met.
Amelia Polidoro put in work while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit over four innings pitched. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
Polidoro wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Mia Dejesus, who went 2-for-4 with two RBI and one double. Arianna Perkins also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.
Pittsfield's loss dropped their record down to 1-5. As for Longmeadow, their record now sits at 6-1.
Pittsfield's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Longmeadow has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .500. It's a different story for Pittsfield, though, as they've only averaged .365. Will they be able to contain Longmeadow's hitters?
Longmeadow skirted past Pittsfield 3-2 in their previous meeting back in April of 2025. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Lancers since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
