Basketball Game Preview: Highland Trojans vs. Illiana Christian Vikings

The Highland Trojans will take on the Illiana Christian Vikings in a holiday battle at at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Highland knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past four games -- so hopefully Illiana Christian likes a good challenge.

Highland will head into Friday's matchup hoping to keep the good times rolling: they had to skate by with only a three-point margin when they last took the court, which might have inspired the 32-point drubbing they dealt Whiting on Friday. Highland breezed by Whiting to the tune of 75-43. The Trojans have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won four contests by 20 points or more this season.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Highland to victory, but perhaps none more so than Justin Pack, who went 7 for 12 on his way to 16 points in addition to six boards and three steals. Pack's evening made it seven games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Danijel Zekavica, who went 5 of 7 on his way to 12 points.

Highland smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 11 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in five consecutive games.

Meanwhile, Illiana Christian suffered their biggest loss since December 1, 2023 on Friday. They came up short against Griffith, falling 63-42. The Vikings have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Illiana Christian now has a losing record at 1-2. As for Highland, their win bumped their record up to 6-1.
