Marlboro Academy proved they can win big last Tuesday (they won by ten) and on Friday they proved they can win the close ones too. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with an 11-9 victory over the Lee Academy Cavaliers. The win was familiar territory for the Dragons, who have now won six contests in a row.
Addison Herndon and Kate Leslie did most of the damage at the plate: Herndon scored two runs and stole two bases while getting on base in four of her five plate appearances, while Leslie scored a run while getting on base in all five of her plate appearances. Those two stolen bases gave Herndon a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Sara Driggers, who scored a run while going 2-for-3.
Marlboro Academy always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .619. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Lee Academy only posted an OBP of .409.
