After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Trinity Catholic, the Fernandina Beach Pirates were happy to have found some success on Friday. They walked away with a 36-28 victory over Baker County. For Fernandina Beach, this counts as revenge for the 55-38 loss Baker County walked away with the last time they faced one another back in December of 2023.
Fernandina Beach was led to victory by Naslynn Morris and Savina Wells. Morris scored seven points along with nine rebounds and five steals, while Wells scored 15 points along with eight rebounds and two steals. That makes it three consecutive games in which Wells has scored at least a third of Fernandina Beach's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Julianna Miller, who scored five points along with four steals.
Fernandina Beach's win bumped their record up to 6-7. As for Baker County, their loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 10-3.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Fernandina Beach will take on KIPP Bold City at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. KIPP Bold City is hoping to put an end to a nine-game streak of away losses. As for Baker County, they will be playing at home against Ridgeview at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Ridgeview focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 16 last Thursday.
