The St. Michael the Archangel Warriors''s recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their third straight loss. They were dealt a 65-20 loss at the hands of Freedom. While losing is never fun, St. Michael the Archangel can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Virginia football rankings (they are ranked 31st, while Freedom is ranked third).
Freedom's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Tristan Evans-Trujillo, who threw for 250 yards and four touchdowns while completing 85.7% of his passes, and also punched in a touchdown on the ground. Evans-Trujillo is on a roll when it comes to passing touchdowns, as he's now passed for three or more in the last nine games he's played. Another player making a difference was Jeffrey Overton, who rushed for 159 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 8.4 yards per carry.
St. Michael the Archangel's defeat was their fourth straight on the road, which dropped their overall record down to 4-6. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 15.3 points per game. As for Freedom, the win for they keeps them at an undefeated 9-0.
St. Michael the Archangel does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Freedom will look to defend their home field on Friday against Potomac Senior at 6:00 p.m.
