The Central Valley Warriors will face off against the Quaker Valley Quakers at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Quaker Valley took a loss in their last game and will be looking to turn the tables on Central Valley, who comes in off a win.
Central Valley will roll into the matchup after a wild two-game stretch: they only put up six points last Friday, then bounced right back against North Catholic on Friday. The Warriors snuck past the Trojans with a 34-28 win. The Warriors haven't had any issues with the Trojans recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive victory against them.
Among those leading the charge was Aaron Lawson, who picked up 79 receiving yards, and also rushed for 45 yards. He didn't just play on offense: he also made seven total tackles and defended two passes.
They were just one part of a punishing run game: Central Valley was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 260 rushing yards. They are 3-1 when they've run for more than 200 yards.
Central Valley's defense stepped up as well, laying out the QB six times. Lukas Gerovac was particularly dangerous to the passing game, picking up three sacks himself. Central Valley got some further help from Ethan Shearer: he picked up a sack and made nine total tackles (3.0 for loss).
Meanwhile, Quaker Valley played a tough contest on Friday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They came up short against Avonworth, falling 40-19. The Quakers haven't had much luck with the Antelopes recently, as the team has come up short the last six times they've met.
Central Valley will have to contain Rex Fatur as he made an impact in Quaker Valley's last game. He rushed for 113 yards and one TD on only 14 carries.
Central Valley's win bumped their record up to 3-4. As for Quaker Valley, they now also have a losing record of 3-4.
Friday's game might be decided on the ground. Central Valley has been excellent on the ground this season, having averaged 182.3 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Quaker Valley struggles in that department as they've been averaging 160.9 rushing yards. There's a good chance Friday's matchup turns into a tough fight on the ground.
Everything came up roses for Central Valley against Quaker Valley in their previous meeting back in October of 2024, as the team secured a 52-20 victory. In that contest, the Warriors amassed a halftime lead of 45-6, an impressive feat they'll look to repeat on Friday.
