The Northview Wildcats will take on the Perrysburg Yellow Jackets at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Northview will be looking to extend their current seven-game winning streak.
Northview is returning to their home field after beating Maumee on theirs, despite the fact Maumee has dominated at home this season. The Wildcats walked away with a 6-2 win over the Panthers on Tuesday.
Northview got a great performance from Graham Newnham as he tossed five innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off four hits. Newnham has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in five consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Charlie Paulson, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one double. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in April. Colin Tomanski was another key player, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs and one double.
Northview hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They are a perfect 6-0 when they post two or more strikeouts.
Perrysburg let Elmwood stack five runs on them in the fourth inning on Tuesday but luckily Perrysburg prevailed anyway. The Yellow Jackets skirted past the Royals 7-5. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Yellow Jackets.
Perrysburg let Brayden Heitmeyer and Landon Winters run wild. Heitmeyer went 1-for-2 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI, while Winters got on base in all three of his plate appearances with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI.
Northview pushed their record up to 13-10 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. The road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.7 runs over those games. As for Perrysburg, their victory bumped their record up to 16-7.
Northview came up short against Perrysburg in their previous meeting back in April, falling 6-2. Will the Wildcats have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check back here after the action for a full breakdown and analysis of the contest.
