Softball Recap: Auburn Puts Losing Streak Behind Them

Auburn came into Monday's matchup having lost seven straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Calera Eagles a 6-0 shutout on Monday. The Tigers not only won on Monday, but they posted their biggest win since April 1st.

Not much got past Abigail Helms, who gave up just three hits and racked up nine Ks to keep Calera off the board.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Emma Kate Penton, who went 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in March. The team also got some help courtesy of Gracie Mason, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3.

Auburn hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Calera struck out nine times.

Auburn's win bumped their record up to 19-14. As for Calera, their loss was their ninth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 6-18.

Looking ahead, Auburn will take on Smiths Station at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Calera, they will face off against McAdory at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Yellowjackets will roll in looking for their fourth straight victory, something the Eagles surely won't give up without a fight.
