After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Gates County, the Bertie Falcons were happy to have found some success on Tuesday. They took their contest on the road with ease, bagging a 48-21 win over Tarboro. That 27 point margin sets a new team best for Bertie this season.
It was another big night for Rakiyah Peele, who dropped a double-double on 20 points and 14 rebounds. That makes it 11 consecutive games in which she has scored at least a third of Bertie's points. Another player making a difference was Kydra Brown, who scored 12 points along with seven steals and six rebounds.
Bertie now has a winning record of 10-9. As for Tarboro, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 5-12.
Bertie will be playing in front of their home fans against Hertford County at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday. As for Tarboro, they will head out on the road to take on Perquimans at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. The timing is sure in Perquimans' favor as the team sits on eight straight wins at home while Tarboro has been banged up by three consecutive losses on the road.
