Softball Recap: Monday's Loss Ends Helix's Winning Streak

Helix dropped their record down to 8-4 on Monday, which also ended the team's four-game streak of wins. They wound up with the same score they had in their last game (8-4), but sadly the team found themselves on the wrong side of the score this time. Surprisingly, this marked their fourth straight game in which the away team has come away the victor.

Helix got a good showing from Katelyn Woodland, who tossed three innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off three hits. Woodland has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Lillianna Benabdeljalil made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-3 with one home run. Naviah Conchas was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two RBI and one double.

As for Santana, their record now sits at 10-6. Surprisingly, this marked their fourth straight game in which the away team has come away the victor.

On Santana's side, the team relied heavily on Emma Schneider, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. Schneider also put up a triple, which was her first of the season. Another player making a difference was McKenna Miller, who went 2-for-4 with two triples, three runs, and one RBI.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Helix will welcome Monte Vista at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Highlanders are facing the Monarchs at the right time seeing as the Monarchs are stuck on a ten-game losing streak. As for Santana, they will be playing in front of their home fans against West Hills at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Sultans 3.4, the Wolf Pack 3.7) so any runs scored will be well earned.
