Basketball Recap: Boulder Creek Beats Pinnacle for Their Fourth Straight Victory

Boulder Creek entered their tilt with Pinnacle on Monday with three consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with four. They took down the Pinnacle Pioneers 79-63. Given the Jaguars' advantage in MaxPreps' Arizona basketball rankings (they are ranked third, while the Pioneers are ranked 80th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Boulder Creek got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Jeehzus Pagan out in front who went 8 for 11 en route to 23 points and three steals. Those 23 points gave Pagan a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Matthew Delgado, who went 7 of 11 on his way to 19 points and six boards.

Kareem Alkhalifa and Ryan Nelson certainly did their best on Monday to avoid the loss. Alkhalifa went 7 for 17 en route to 20 points in addition to five rebounds and three steals, while Nelson went 6 of 12 on his way to 17 points along with five assists and four steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Malichi Mims, who posted ten points.

Boulder Creek has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight matches, which provided a nice bump to their 14-4 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 70.0 points per game. As for Pinnacle, they dropped their record down to 4-11 with the defeat, which was their fourth straight at home.

Boulder Creek has already played their next contest, a 78-64 win against Mountain Ridge on the 23rd. As for Pinnacle, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 69-59 loss against O'Connor on the 22nd.
