The Denver South Ravens came into Wednesday's match having lost four straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They blew past Far Northeast W 61-23 on the road on Wednesday. Given Denver South's advantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 109th, while Far Northeast W is ranked 274th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Denver South got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Nevaeh Millard out in front who scored 17 points along with five rebounds and two steals. Another player making a difference was Dylan Moyer, who scored 13 points along with three steals.
Despite the loss, Far Northeast W saw an underclassman step up: Yaretzi Barraza scored six points along with five rebounds and two steals.
Denver South now has a winning record of 9-8. As for Far Northeast W, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 7-11.
Denver South will head out on the road to square off against Hinkley at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Hinkley comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 21 points in their last 13 games, a trend the squad is of course eager to reverse. As for Far Northeast W, they will head out on the road to take on Denver East at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. Denver East will roll in looking for their sixth straight victory, something Far Northeast W surely won't give up without a fight.
