Shadow Creek hasn't had much luck against Santa Fe recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Sharks will head out on the road to face off against the Indians at 7:00 p.m. The two teams each escaped (but just barely!) with wins against their previous opponents.
Last Tuesday, it was close, but Shadow Creek sidestepped La Porte for a 6-4 win. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Sharks.
Jaylan Simmons was incredible, going 3-for-4 with four RBI, two runs, and two doubles. Those two runs gave him a new career-high. Dylan Thane also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.
Shadow Creek always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .514. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, it may have taken nine innings to finish the job, but Santa Fe ultimately got the result they hoped for on Tuesday. They had just enough and edged out Ball 5-3. The victory was familiar territory for the Indians, who have now won three matches in a row.
Trenton Lewis tossed a big game, striking out ten batters over 8.2 innings while giving up three earned runs off five hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in four consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Santa Fe's win was truly a team effort as seven different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Johnathan Baccinelli, who scored a run while going 1-for-4.
Santa Fe's victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 11-6. Those road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.0 run on average over those games. As for Shadow Creek, they now have a winning record of 11-10.
Shadow Creek suffered a grim 6-0 defeat to Santa Fe in their previous meeting back in March of 2024. Can the Sharks avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
