The Bridges Prep Buccaneers came tearing into Wednesday's match with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 25 points) and they left with even more momentum. They managed a 43-37 win over Whale Branch. Winning is a bit easier when you work as a team to post nine more assists than your opponent, as Bridges Prep did.
Bridges Prep's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but A Wilson led the charge by dropping a double-double on 17 points and 15 rebounds. That makes it three consecutive games in which Wilson has scored at least a third of Bridges Prep's points. Another player making a difference was Te'shaun Heyward, who scored six points along with seven assists and seven rebounds.
Whale Branch lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Laron Wright, who scored 11 points along with five rebounds and two steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Kevin Jenkins, who scored eight points along with 15 rebounds.
Bridges Prep is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six contests, which provided a nice bump to their 17-4 record this season. As for Whale Branch, their loss dropped their record down to 15-10.
