Damonte Ranch is 8-2 against Carson since February of 2018, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Thursday. Even though Reed scored an imposing 62 points on Saturday, Damonte Ranch still came out on top. Damonte Ranch took their game against Reed 70-62. Given Damonte Ranch's advantage in MaxPreps' Nevada basketball rankings (they are ranked third, while Reed is ranked 66th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Damonte Ranch's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Jiro Basabas led the charge by dropping a double-double on 11 points and 11 assists. The game was Basabas' fourth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Jeriah Macias, who scored 17 points.
Meanwhile, Carson was the victim of a rough 71-45 defeat at the hands of Reno on Saturday. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Carson in their matchups with Reno: they've now lost three in a row.
Damonte Ranch pushed their record up to 9-0 with that win, which was their third straight on the road. As for Carson, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-6.
Everything went Damonte Ranch's way against Carson in their previous matchup back in January as Damonte Ranch made off with a 52-32 win. Does Damonte Ranch have another victory up their sleeve, or will Carson turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
