Plainville's Trevor Desaire rumbled for the longest rushing play in Mid-Continent this season in his game against Ellis last week. Desaire scampered for 68 yards on the play and finished with 151 on the day as his team defeated the Railroaders.
Phillipsburg was able to crack the Top 25 in the state rankings this week after defeating Decatur Community. The Panthers came in at 24 in the state poll after placing at number 35 last week.
Ellis' dynamic duo of Easton Smith and Brevin LaBarge proved to be unstoppable against Plainville, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Smith threw for 50 yards and LaBarge had 50 yards receiving.
Butch Hayes' team's dynamic duo of Smith and LaBarge proved tough for Joe Simon's team to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week.
Smith put up the best numbers in passing as the Railroaders lost to the Cardinals.
Hayden Friend was the best running back in the league this week. He ran for 160 yards on 10 carries as Plainville fell to Plainville.
Friend provided a threat through the air and on the ground as the Cardinals defeated the Railroaders. Friend's key target this week was Cody Werner, who caught 2 passes for 26 yards.
LaBarge was the best receiver in the league this week as Ellis lost to Plainville.
Thanks to the talents of Hadley Gillum and Friend, the Cardinals have been able to do all sorts of things on offense. Gillum leads the league in passing with 65 yards, while Friend has rushed for 195 yards this season. Tops in the league in receving yards is the Railroaders' LaBarge, with 50 yards on 2 catches.
The top two teams in Mid-Continent will face off this week when first place Phillipsburg takes on second place Oakley.
There should be lots of points scored when Plainville and Norton face off this week. The top two offenses in the league, the Cardinals comes in having scored 45 this season, while the Bluejays have scored 13. Plainville scored 45 points last week as it topped Ellis.
