The Vinton County Vikings will be taking part in a tournament against the Gallia Academy Blue Devils at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams are strolling into their matches after big wins in their previous games.
Vinton County took a loss when they played away from home on Thursday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Monday. Everything went their way against McClain as they made off with a 3-0 victory.
Vinton County walked away with the win (and looked especially good in the first set). Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-13, 25-16, 25-19.
Meanwhile, Gallia Academy put another one in the bag on Thursday to keep their perfect season alive. They blew past Rock Hill 3-0.
Not only was the match a shutout, it was a big one: Gallia Academy took every set by at least 12 points. The final score came out to 25-10, 25-13, 25-5.
Gallia Academy's win came from a few key players Vinton County will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Chloe Bennett, who had 18 digs and five aces. She is on a roll when it comes to digs, as she's now had ten or more in each of the last 20 games she's played.
Gallia Academy was lethal from the service line and finished the match with 14 aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least 11 aces in four consecutive matchups.
Gallia Academy's victory bumped their record up to 22-0. As for Vinton County, their win bumped their record up to 11-12.
Vinton County came out on top in a nail-biter against Gallia Academy in their previous meeting back in October of 2020, sneaking past 3-2. Will the Vikings repeat their success, or do the Blue Devils have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
